Marpessa Hennink is one of the iconic top models of the golden times in fash- ion and she prides herself with having realized her childhood dream of col- laborating with most important photographers, designers and magazines. Throughout her professional career, Marpessa has been the favorite of Versace, Chanel, Val- entino, Kenzo, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Donna Karan and, maybe most of all, Dolce & Gabbana, as she was an inspiration and muse for them since they started their brand. Her professional relationship with the Magnum photographer Ferdinan- do Scianna was especially productive, Marpessa being the first testimoni- al for D&G catalogues and numerous campaigns and editorials. From this im- portant collaboration “Marpessa” was born in 1993, a book which carried the model’s name and which she considered the crown of her modeling career. Among other recognitions, Marpessa was awarded the Fash- ion Oscar in Paris 1987 for being the best model on the catwalk. Once she retired from the fashion world she took up her old passions like inte- rior design and decoration, eventually settling down in Ibiza and became a mother. There she has her own eclectic showroom and she has opened “Ibiza Day/Night Studio”, a perfect place for incredible shootings. Nevertheless, the ex-model has continuously done special appearances on catwalks and in important fash- ion events like Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief and recently added writer to her resumé as she became a published fashion reporter for Amica magazine.
